He held multiple roles for Citi like managing the Investment Banking Group for Public Sector across Latin America, the Financial Institutions Group for Central America, the Caribbean and Ecuador; the Investment Banking & Corporate Business in Panama and serving as Business Head for several countries across the Caribbean. Prior to that, he worked at Citi in New York in Investment Banking within the Mergers & Acquisitions and EAF groups. At Citi in Colombia, he served as Vice President of Investment Banking. Luis Carlos received the Global “Business Senior Credit Officer” distinction from Citi which allowed him to approve material risk transactions worldwide. Before joining Citi, he worked as Investment Banking Manager at Bancolombia (formerly Corfinsura) among other roles in banking. He has also been a University Professor of Financial Mathematics, Project Evaluation and Investment Banking at EAFIT University, among others. At the Board level, he served as Chairman of The Bahamas Banking Association; etc.

Among the most significant investment banking transactions in which he has participated are the USD 1.2 Billion Valuation & Merger of Almacenes Éxito & Cadenalco (largest Colombian retailers), the Transmilenio (Bogotá) & MIO (Cali) Massive Transportation Systems, the Nassau Airport expansion (Bahamas) which was awarded “Global Deal of the Year 2009”, Tocumen Airport, the Panama Metro, the Valuation, Privatization & Sale of Batelco to Cable & Wireless; the USD 250 Million Syndicated Loan for the Republic of Colombia with a CAF guarantee; among many others.

In 2018, he founded Valoriza Group, a leading Investment Banking Firm in Colombia &the Latin American region with clients in 13 countries and USD 1.2 Billion+ in closed transactions. Luis Carlos holds a MBA from West Virginia University (U.S.), a Specialization in Finance from EAFIT University and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the School of Engineering of Antioquia.
